Weekly Inspiration : Jim Jarmusch & Jean-Luc Godard

I’m already a fan of Jarmusch’s approach to film making.  He has made some gems, my favorite being his 1995 film Dead Man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Man).

I’m not a Jean-Luc Godard snob, but his approach is equally interesting.  I think his quote here is very appropriate.

Where do we take things to?  A lot of people are complacent and their work moves in circles, or even backwards.
True visionaries and creative people don’t stand on the shoulders of giants to steal their attention but to move forward their greatness in new directions.

When asked about the average Ph.D. Thesis James Frank Dobie said “is nothing but a transference of bones from one graveyard to another.”

Education, creativity and even politics demand so much more from us than this.
