I wasn't able to make the Farmers Market last week but the two weekends prior Heidi Stokelin, in her usual "alternative" and "edgy" fashion, was there sitting on the steps to Wells St. school protesting.Tagging along was another ragged hippie-vegan do-gooder, no doubt her significant other. I wondered what she was protesting and someone told me it was world peace. But of course, because as everyone knows that no one else but Heidi Stokelin wants world peace….how extremely patronizing. From her flimsily constructed arguments she made at open forum, to her countless letters to the Auroran to unsuccessfully filing war crime charges against our Prime Minister how exactly does Heidi believe her efforts are having any effect? Heidi's naivete is both epic and insulting to our men and women in uniform both currently serving, veterans or fallen. When asked to comment on world peace the following response was offered: "If we could just get everyone to close his or her eyes and visualize world peace for an hour, imagine how serene and quiet it would be until the looting started." This was written by a 15 year old. Around this age most reach the conclusion that sometimes a hug isn't enough, and when it isn't I'm proud to know that here in Canada there are heros among us that put their lives on the line to achieve such peace. It may not be world wide, but we're there and working on it. Working seems to be a foreign term for Ms Stokelin, who would prefer to achieve world peace through sitting on her self righteous bony ass. I can't imagine a less constructive way of achieving ANY goal. But than I'm not an overly privileged hippie do-gooder who shuffles off my kids on someone else so I can go off to every possible protest to mitigate my overwhelming sense of white guilt.
