Now that awards season is behind us has everyone fully recovered from the “Town of Aurora Heritage Awards of Excellence” ?
If not I can’t blame you.
The dramatic upset of this year’s awards came when Aurora itself was edged out by Newmarket Main Street Holdings Corporation.
That’s right the new Aw, Shucks! building on Yonge Street, the savior of Aurora’s historic downtown core that has our Mayor drooling over it’s $5 million investment, was accomplished by a Newmarket company.
And not just any company, but one with ties to Newmarket’s Historic Main street:
Aurora is so incapable of its own historic downtown revitalization that when it looks around to hand out awards there is no one more deserving than an entirely different town.
It’s as if the means by which our town implements its strategic plan couldn’t possibly be captured in a single Dilbert cartoon.
This one does come close:
Perhaps other municipalities should be put on alert to expand their trophy cases to accommodate all of Aurora’s excellence.
