Aurora’s cheesy lite-brite sign located at the south west corner of Aurora Heights & Yonge has been frozen all winter.
In October of 2013 I commented on the fact that the town finally updated the plastic banner at the top of the sign: https://wattstrending.wordpress.com/2013/10/17/if-you-were-waiting-for-a-sign-this-is-it/
It’s unfortunate that at this point, or at any point in the 5 years previous nothing was done about the know issue regarding the sign’s failing electronics.
Dial back the streetview in Google Maps and you can see snapshots from last year and then 5 years previous. Some months it worked, others not so much:
Seeing how our new council is celebrating an attitude of getting things done I brought the issue to their attention and understand that it will be discussed as a capital expense during the budget meeting along with an approximate cost of $15,000 to patch the issue.
Until the electronic sign is fixed it remains a shining example of how the town remains frozen in their efforts to provide “exceptional quality of life for all” when it comes to one of their favorite buzzwords: sustainability.
“Don’t let them in, don’t let them see
Be the good sign you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know
Well, now they know..”
