Addiction Canada has been in the news recently, and not exactly for being a good company. Last year the CBC reported that 42 workers filed complaints with Ontario’s Ministry of Labour against the company since 2012, for unpaid wages, overtime, vacation pay and other violations.
Addiction Canada fought back issuing a press release re-asserting itself as a professional and credible organization in it stating:
“We take pride in stating that we strive to employ and command the most accredited and credentialed staff in the private addiction treatment industry.”
Yeah about that “accreditation”, this TVO investigation in February describes the cottage industry of addiction treatment accreditation as “diploma mail.”
Looks like this week Upstairs Hollywood Medical College finally caught up with Addiction Canada as the Banner reported the CEO, director, and founder has been charged by the OPP for defrauding patients over $6 Million.
One more example of the Town being able to boast its slogan: “You’re in good company”.
