How many things can corporate communications fail at before they are held to account?


The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind.

I only noticed them because I saw two workers in a cherry picker truck and thought they were working on hydro lines, but no, they were installing banners along Yonge Street:

Banners that are designed so poorly you can’t read the text at the top because of their high position.  You can barely make out the dates as you drive by.  The URL is way too small to read, and too long to remember.

You can however make out the Town’s logo, the entity paying the freight.

I was informed that the town does not own a cherry picker, it has to be rented.  So to do this comes with a cost.  What is it?

Considering that there are trees in between these light standards as you drive along, they occlude the banners.  Just like on Yonge Street where the banners are blocked by the hanging baskets:

It’s amazing the effort and resources expended on things like banners and facebook borders no one asked for and will not get a second glance yet none on simple things, like user testing of the voter list website.

Unsurprisingly the voting website isn’t the only one that has issues.  The town’s website fails to provide links to candidates websites:



So the town will print and install banners with a URL to direct eyeballs to, and once there you can find phone number and email but not a link to candidate websites.
