Pickleball. Court # 2. Fill’er up!

Back in 2021 Councillor Rachel Gilliland declared decisions made at Town Hall should be considered through a “climate lens”.

The question now is does that include the decision to expand Pickleball a motion that was also advanced by the same Clr:

This video shows a gas generator in use at Fleury park during a PickleBall event June 22nd which places the two initiatives at odds:

Clr. Gilliland claimed the environment to be a key issue and listed the initiative of a climate lens amongst her 2018 electoral promises:

When you go to the Town of Aurora website there are several initiatives including the Community Energy Plan that speak to reducing, not increasing the use of greenhouse gasses:

So, are pickleball users encouraged to bring gas generators to Aurora parks?

How can they even be necessary? I have never seen a gas generator before at a tennis event.

It appears that when things “get done” in isolation they end up out of alignment. The “working together” part seems to be absent here and this issue could easily be avoided if town park expectations were clearly outlined to park users including new sports like pickle ball.

Permitting this simply by turning a blind eye puts the town in a real pickle.

Watts on your mind?
