Where am I? Sharon!!! Sharon!!!

The East Gwillimbury Sport Hall of Fame held their first annual “celebrity” golf fundraiser last year up in Sharon. No, wait, sorry that was the Aurora Sport Hall of Fame:

When it came time to choose the course this year they flipped off any notion to “Explore Aurora” and are returning to the same course in Sharon:

It is not like Aurora is short of options for the sport. So the question is why does this board of directors feel the grass is greener in Sharon?

Are we to understand that Beacon Hall, Lebovic, Westview, Magna nor St. Andrews courses are deemed not worthy enough for the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame’s event?

It seems rather insulting to these clubs that the Aurora Sport Hall of Fame would not chose any of them.

There should be no floating of excuses that this organization doesn’t wish to show favortism to any one course as they can easily rotate amongst all of the town’s courses, spreading their business around instead of taking their ball all the way up to East Gwillimbury.

Especially when St. Andrews is the chosen club for the Mayor’s own 2024 event:

As the Aurora Sport Hall of Fame routinely comes begging to council for $, they should have said funding contingent upon the basis that they align with the town’s goals of promoting and hosting events here in the town of Aurora. If that isn’t satisfactory perhaps they can make a presentation to East Gwillimbury’s council for funding.

If the town of Aurora can’t persuade this organziation to stop and say Mama, I’m coming home, then it brings into question the effectiveness of any leadership promoting Sport Tourism here in Aurora.

Crazy, but that’s how it goes.
